Organised by The Hong Kong Institute of Urban Design (HKIUD), The GBA Urban
Design Awards 2022 Roving Exhibition(Hong Kong) was officially opened on 20
February at Central Market.
The opening ceremony was officiated by Ms. Bernadette Linn, JP, Secretary for Development of HKSAR, Mr. Edward Tse, JP, Director of Architectural Services , Ms. Clarice Yu, JP, Director of Buildings, Mr. Ivan Chung, JP, Director of Planning, Mr Thomas Ho, JP, Chairman of Construction Industry Council, Dr. Cheung Tin Cheung, SBS, Chairman of Hong Kong Green Building Council Limited, Mrs. Lowell Cho, Assistant Head of Create Hong Kong and Ms. Angie Chung, General Manager of Central Market, being in the company of Mr. Barry Wilson, President of HKIUD.
Ms. Bernadette Linn, JP, the officiating guest of the ceremony, remarked that urban design development is closely related to the Government’s efforts in bringing in talents and enterprises. They are building a new institutional setup in providing investment opportunities and attracting particular enterprises to Hong Kong while striving to enhance the city design. She believed that talents would choose to stay in a place which is convincingly livable.

Benny Chan, Vice President (Local Affairs) of HKIUD.
Mr. Barry Wilson, President of HKIUD, remarked that the Awards showcase the
tremendous breadth of development projects that urban designers are involved
with across the region, highlighting the complex collaboration and mutual
understanding necessary across stakeholder
groups to produce high-quality, low-carbon development that can address the
significant environmental, social, and economic challenges faced through
climate emergency. The Awards act to deepen the connection between urban design
professionals across the Greater Bay Area through knowledge sharing of
practical experience.
The exhibition showcases the award-winning projects which demonstrate how
excellent urban design solutions are closely related to life quality and how
they can deliver cities with better health, sustainability and livability. The
Exhibition is now open from today to 12 March 2023 at the 1/F Event Space,
Central Market. Admission is free for the public.
The GBA Urban Design Awards 2022 Roving Exhibition
The exhibition is divided into 5 sections, presenting projects from the ‘Built
Project’, ‘Urban Intervention’ and ‘Plan/Concept’ Professional categories,
along with a ‘Student’ category and ‘Urban Design Video’ competition. The
general public are able to investigate the design issues from display panels
and a short video.
