back Date: 17 June 2020 (Wed) The Inauguration of the Greater Bay Area Urban Designer Alliance Today Witnessed by The Honourable Chief Executive
(Hong Kong, 17th June 2020) With the mission of elevation of urban design standard and improvement of the livability of the cities in the Greater Bay Area, The Hong Kong Institute of Urban Design (HKIUD) together with CURB Center for Architecture and Urbanism – Macau, Guangzhou Urban Planning Association, Urban Planning Society of Shenzhen, and Zhuhai Planning Exploration and Design Industry Association have band together to establish The Greater Bay Area Urban Designer Alliance. The purpose of setting up Greater Bay Area Urban Designer Alliance is to promote collaboration among urban design professionals, practices and organisations in the Greater Bay Area including urban designers, architects, landscape designers, town planners and engineers, and subsequently establish the professional recognition for urban design practitioners in the Greater Bay Area.

Organised by The HKIUD, a MOU signing ceremony was held today (17th June 2020) with The Honourable Mrs. Carrie LAM CHENG Yuet-ngor, GBM, GBS, The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in attendance.The CE witnessed the signing of the 5 founding institutes to officially establish the Alliance for the mega region through live-video links and expressed her greatest support to the Alliance.

The Honourable Mrs. Carrie LAM CHENG Yuet-ngor, GBM, GBS, The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region bestowed the Alliance’s President’s Medal to Mr. Joel CHAN, president of The HKIUD, for The HKIUD role as the presiding 2020 convener for the Alliance. The President Medal is custodial piece and will be bestow to the next Convener on a biennial rotation basis.

After the ceremony, the Honourable  Mrs. Carrie LAM CHENG Yuet-ngor, GBM, GBS, The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region was joint by the Past and Present Presidents and fellow Council Members of The Hong Kong Institute of Urban Design (HKIUD) in celebration of the official inauguration of Greater Bay Area Urban Designer Alliance.
